We believe that by working in partnership with parents we are able to help students reach their potential. We encourage ongoing communication between home and school and also encourage staff to contact parents, particularly when there is something positive to report. Dojo is the preferred mode of communication as it has an ease of sending photos of student work and engagement in learning to individual parents. Teachers will share their availability and contact preferences through their termly newsletters.
Class Information Afternoons
Class Information Afternoons are held in the first three weeks of Term 1 to allow teachers to meet parents and outline units of work, assessment and expectations.
Class Newsletter
Classroom teachers will send a class newsletter out during the first week of term informing parents/carers of what their child will be learning in each learning area and any other important class and school information for the term. The newsletter will also include how to register for Dojo and/or the best way to contact your class teacher.
Parent/Teacher/Student Meetings
Parent/Teacher/Student interviews are set up by the Deputy through the school online booking system (SOBs), SOBs is accessed through the school Home page. Parents will be sent information how to book an appointment.
Parent/Teacher/Student interviews offer us a unique opportunity to talk with parents and carers about the progress of their child - the focus of our shared responsibility - and the improvement and growth they have shown whilst in our classes and care. These are held at the end of Terms 1 and 3.
Teachers are encouraged to teach students to run these meetings using their portfolio cover sheets. For students unable to do this, the teacher can explain the portfolio.
Teachers are encouraged to make opportunities to meet with parents at other times when it is felt necessary. The Principal, Deputy Principals, Head of Curriculum and support staff are always willing to make themselves available to attend. Please don't hesitate to ask.
Reporting to Parents
Report cards are issued via email at the end of Semesters 1 and 2. Dates for the issue of report cards are set at the beginning of each year and published for parents.
